- A Day in Which All People Will Stand Before God [2 Cor. 5:10; Rev. 20:11–15]
- A Day in Which the Lord Will Make Ultimate Distinctions [2 Tim. 1:12; Mt. 25]
- A Day in Which Many Will Be Surprised [Mt. 24:36–44; 1 Thess. 5:1–4]
Big Idea: Entering the kingdom of heaven depends not on merely professing faith in Jesus, nor on merely doing things for Jesus, but solely on being known by Jesus.
1. Not Through Merely Professing Faith in Jesus [Mt. 7:21]
- True Faith is More Than a Right Profession [Rom. 10:9–13; Jas. 2:14–26]
- True Faith is Evidenced by a Life of Obedience [Lk. 6:46; Eph. 2:8–10]
2. Not Through Merely Doing Things for Jesus [Mt. 7:22]
- Prophesying in His Name [Mt. 10:1–8; Num. 23; Jn. 6:70–71; 11:51–52]
- Casting out Demons in His Name [Acts 19:13–16; 2 Cor. 11:14]
- Working Miracles in His Name [Mt. 24:24; 2 Thess. 2:9]
3. But Through Being Known by Jesus [Mt. 7:23]
- The Declaration of Judgment [Mt. 25:41; Ps. 6:8]
- “I Never Knew You”
- “Depart from Me, You Lawbreakers”
- The Declaration of Salvation [Mt. 25:34; Gal. 4:8–9]
- Knowing and Being Known by Jesus (Faith) [Jn. 6:28–29; 10:14–15, 17:3; Phil. 3:8–11; 2 Tim. 2:19]
- Doing the Will of the Father (Repentance) [1 Cor. 6:9–11; 1 Jn. 2:3–6]
